Programs for Youth Affected by Substance Abuse
Youth Eastside Services (YES), The Moyer Foundation, and
the Robert Vasen Foundation have partnered to provide a
comprehensive set of service for youth affected by drug or alcohol
abuse in the home.
The Moyer Foundation and Youth Eastside Service collaborated to
create
Camp Mariposa, a multi-day camp that provides counseling and
emotional support, and teaches youth a variety of problem solving
and self-care strategies.
The Robert Vasen Foundation joined this partnership initially to
sponsor a year of aftercare for Mariposa campers that included
counseling and support services. That pilot program has now been
expanded to an enhanced seven week intervention and counseling
series for youth, as well as a simultaneous series of support groups
for non-using caregivers. Seven different series for youth and
caregivers will be run each year. Before this partnership, there
were no such services for this population of youth. And these
services now open to all affected youth in the region. These
initiatives are entirely funded by the Robert Vasen Foundation.
The Robert Vasen Foundation in honored to work with
these two leading organizations on a program providing much needed
support to very deserving youth.
